Bend, Oregon — In late August, POWDR shocked the ski industry by selling Killington and Pico to local investors. In addition, POWDR announced that they will be putting Eldora, Mt. Bachelor, and Silver Star on the market soon.

Out of these three, the most valuable is considered to be Mt. Bachelor. According to the Storm Skiing Journal, industry heavyweights Alterra and Vail Resorts are expected to be interested in acquiring Mt. Bachelor due to its size and destination potential. However, some locals are looking to see if they can pull off a Cinderella story.

Last week, we shared a story from the Central Oregon Daily News about Chris Porter and Dan Cochrane’s push to acquire Mt. Bachelor and bring it back into local hands. On Thursday night, they met with local stakeholders to conduct a feasibility study and chart their next steps.

Today, we received an email from the locals about their latest moves. In the email, Chris & Dan said they are making significant progress toward the purchase of Mount Bachelor as a community partnership. This sounds like a story that we’ll be keeping an eye on.

We are making significant progress toward the purchase of Mount Bachelor as a community partnership, and we look forward to sharing more updates with you soon.
