It was only a matter of time before the two men who were caught on camera destroying an ancient rock formation at Lake Mead National Recreation Area were identified and arrested.

Lake Mead sought the public’s help for information identifying the suspects involved in the vandalism along the Redstone Dunes Trail back in April. The pair were evenually arrested by the United States Marshals Service and made their first court appearance Friday before United States Magistrate Judge Nancy Koppe.

37-year-old Wyatt Clifford Fain and 31-year-old Payden David Guy Cosper were indicted by a federal grand jury. Each charged with one count of injury and depredation of government property and one count of aiding and abetting.

A jury trial has been scheduled for October 8th, if convicted the defendants could each face up to 10 years imprisonment. We will be sure to update this story when their trail is underway.
