Japan โ€” Going on a ski trip to a foreign country can be difficult. Ski media covers these places less than domestic North American destinations, and thereโ€™s sometimes a language barrier.

In Japan, tourists tend to stay overnight in Niseko to ski and ride. This leads to them paying hefty costs per night. However, savvier travelers can find some affordable yet beautiful places to stay that are close to the mountains.

This week, YouTuber The Slippery Slope shared four cities skiers and riders should consider when looking for cheap hotel rooms. The four cities he mentions include Sapporo, Asahikawa, Nagano, and Otaru. In the video below, he highlights where he stayed in each city, some of the cool attractions, and the closest ski areas.
