COLORADO – Christy Sports‘ legendary Powder Daze sale is looking a little bit different this year. In the past, the ski & snowboard sale put skis, snowboards and boots of the prior year on the floor of their Littleton store at clearance prices. But this year, patio furniture and summer apparel will take the lead during their End of Summer Sale while the Powder Daze sale continues.
“Starting August 23rd, shop our End of Summer Sale both in-store and online for the best deals on patio furniture, summer apparel, bikes, watersports equipment, and more! In mid-October there will be a winter kick-off event at multiple Christy Sports locations featuring new winter products, select prior season winter goods, season rentals, and winter services. Plus, special events in each of our regions.” – Christy Sports
According to the Denver Post, Powder Daze has been around for 13 years, dragging skiers into the Littleton store during the typically quite hot Labor Day Weekend. This year, though, the End of Summer Sale takes the lead inside the store, offering up to 50% on summer goods. Winter apparel and gear from last season will still be available in store for 60%, though.
“We want to meet the guests where they are now, in season, and not try to anticipate what they may want on a promotional level in the off-season. If we think back to the old days of the (Gart Bros.) Sports Castle downtown in Denver, and people standing around in 98-degree parking lots, it’s hard to get excited about putting on a ski jacket when you’re about to pass out.” – Randy England, director of brand marketing with Christy Sports
Don’t worry too much, though. The Powder Daze sale will still be alive and strong on their website, including pretty much all of the gear you could need, and in store at 11 of their locations. As always, if possible, we strongly recommend purchasing ski boots in person from a reputable boot fitter, but if you know what you need, the Powder Daze sale could be a great place to get it.
“We loved our times in the legacy of what Gart started. But we want to operate our business in-season and give our guests things they can use now. We’re happy to sell skis, we have them available year-round, but I’d rather get you excited about something you can walk out the door and use right away.” – Randy England
