AUSTRALIA – We don’t usually think of Australia as being an ideal place for backcountry skiing, but there are options in both New South Wales and Victoria. And when the conditions are right, they look absolutely stunning. Filmmaker and ski guide Dylan Robinson put together this stunning short film with three years of backcountry skiing and snowboarding in the land Down Under.

Australian mountains are unique and there is a special community that calls them home. Filmed and produced by Australian filmmaker, skier and guide, Dylan Robinson, over three years, this is a collection of moments reflecting on skiing in our backyard. Come on a visual journey of Australian backcountry skiing in New South Wales and Victoria. With words from Drew Jolowicz and Kyle Boys , find out why we love these mountains and what keeps us coming back.

Throughout the video, they visit the Main Range in New South Whales, and Hotham, Mount Feathertop, & Mt. Bogong (the tallest mountain in the state) in Victoria. There’s not a lot of backcountry skiing in Australia, but the scene is clearly growing. Mount Hotham, though it’s not backcountry, just hosted the country’s first Freeride World Tour event.
