Marius Quast takes on Corbet's Couloir.

JACKSON HOLE, Wyoming – I don’t know if Corbet’s Couloir is necessarily one of the most dangerous ski runs in the world, but it certainly seems to be one of the most intimidating. The legendary run at Jackson Hole hosts one of the best ski competitions of the year, in addition to giving us some incredible videos to watch all year round (from successes to wipeouts). Now we’ve seen German ski instructor Marius Quast take on Crested Butte’s Rambo, but how will he handle Corbet’s Couloir?

I’ve seen a lot of videos and photos of people doing a backflip into Corbet’s Couloir, but also Corbet’s Couloir fails and falls that looked like a lot of pain. It’s not just the Kings and Queens event that draws attention to this adventure. The story is also exciting: the namesake, Barry Corbet, foresaw that skiers would one day jump into the gorge and ski.

Much like the Crested Butte video, it’s nice to see that a European ski instructor knows (and is intimidated by) some of our most legendary runs. He’s clearly a bit spooked, but he skis it like a beast, especially for his first time running through it. Many of the comments are pretty validating, too.

Wow, I’ve already seen some highlight videos of it, but experiencing it in its entirety with live commentary from you is something else. Respect!

After seeing this from you, my respect for the couloir is even greater. Great video, great.”
