ZION NATIONAL PARK, Utah – A 3-5 acre wildfire broke out in Zion National Park on Wednesday, July 24, forcing a response from wildland firefighters. The fire was reported in Zion’s Hop Valley around 3pm local time.

Firefighters from National Park Service and partners are actively addressing the flames. The Kolob Terrace road is currently open and not effected by the fire.

The Hop Valley Trail is closed due to the burn, though the Kolob Terrace road remained open. According to Utah Fire Info, the Kolob Terrace Fire (as it’s been named) has reached 20 acres.

Utah has seen a total of 626 fires in the 2024 season alone, with 438 caused by humans, 128 from natural causes, and 60 with an unknown cause. 41,016 acres have burned across the state this year, 19,321 burned from human caused fires.
