Salt Lake City, Utah – After years of build-up and preparation, the Olympics will return to Utah in 2034.

Early Wednesday morning, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced that Salt Lake City will host the 2034 Winter Olympics. The news coincides with the beginning of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, with the opening ceremony happening on Friday. Many stayed overnight and hung out in Washington Square to celebrate the occasion.

The event venues will be similar to those during the 2002 Winter Games. Park City Mountain Resort will host the Snowboard Halfpipe, Snowboard Slopestyle, Freestyle Skiing Halfpipe, and Freestyle Skiing Slopestyle. Deer Valley will host Freestyle Skiing Aerials and Freestyle Skiing Moguls. Snowbasin will host Alpine Skiing (Speed and technical) competitions. No new venues will be needed for the games.

The next Winter Olympics will be hosted in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. The 2030 Winter Games will be heading to France, with the French Alps and Nice hosting the competitions.
