Hunter, New York — Some major projects are underway at Hunter Mountain.

Hunter Mountain, considered one of the most convenient ski resorts for skiers around New York City, announced last year that it’s replacing two lifts this offseason. The Broadway chairlift (a fixed-grip quad) will be replaced with a new high-speed detachable six-pack, and the current Broadway chairlift will replace Lift E. In addition, they’re making some significant snowmaking improvements.

A new high-speed detachable six-pack chairlift will replace the Broadway Quad (also known as Lift B). Lift B services beginner, intermediate, advanced, and expert terrain. In addition, Broadway services Hunter’s signature terrain parks: Park Avenue and Park Avenue West.

In their latest construction update, Hunter’s Senior Manager of Lift Maintenance Ryan Leach explained how the new six-pack chairlift will improve the guest experience.

Snowmaking improvements are also underway. Hunter is making a big push towards automated snowmaking, adding over 70 guns across 50 skiable miles. This automated snowmaking system is being added to the Belt Parkway, Claire’s Way, and Way Out trails. The benefits of automated snowmaking are it provides better snow quality, allows for easier snowmaking during short cold spells, and increases production.

In their latest snowmaking update, Hunter’s Snowmaking Manager explained how their snowmaking system works.
