When it comes to incentivizing little kids to ski, sweets can be a power lever to pull and for Italian World Cup alpine ski racer Alex Vinatzer, the motivational power of chocolate took him from the bunny slopes of the Dolomites to the tops of podiums. When Alex was little, he didn’t really like skiing but his instructor provided a steady stream of chocolate after every run. After learning the fundamentals (supplemented by slope side treats) Alex started racing and no longer needed bribery to keep his skis pointed downhill. Alex has competed in two Winter Olympics and three World Championships and is active on the circuit. Word to the wise for all you ski moms and dads, don’t underestimate the power of chocolate.
