Brian Head, Utah — The southernmost ski resort in Utah will eventually become the seventh-largest ski resort in the Beehive State.

ABC 4 Utah reports that the Brian Head Town Council approved on Tuesday the annexation of approximately 1,799 acres for a new real estate community called Aspen Meadows. This real estate community will add hundreds of acres of new skiable terrain and multiple lifts, including a multi-stage gondola, to Brian Head Resort. Trail cutting reportedly began yesterday, but an opening date for the first phase of the ski resort expansion hasn’t been officially announced.

The terrain expansion will add 850 acres of new skiable terrain with seven lifts (a mix of fixed-grip and detachable high-speed). The terrain and lifts will be open to the public. Another ski lodge, two base villages, a hotel, a skier beach, an ice skating rink, snow tubing, a community park, a dog park, beginner areas, and more amenities are also planned. The development is expected to be fully built out over a span of three decades.
