Here’s a little lesson on what not to do when you come across a wild animal! These morons came across a moose on the road and decided the best course of action would be to get out of their cars, pet, and attempt to feed the cow for a pretty extended period of time: 30 minutes according to the video caption. They tried to feed her apples, carrots, bananas, and oranges, of which the moose would take none.

So here’s the thing: DON’T DO THIS. I’m sure you’ve heard that moose are dangerous animals. Female moose can weigh around 836 pounds on average, and when they feel threatened, they can and will do some serious damage to people, vehicles, and whatever else they feel like doing some damage do.

In a case like this the moose seems pretty friendly, but you never know what will spook them. Additionally, and potentially more importantly, feeding wild animals is dangerous for the animals. First of all, it could get the moose used to the idea of being fed, approaching other people and getting upset when no food is offered. It can also encourage them to head out into roads or other dangerous areas in search of food, becoming aggressive to defend what they believe is theirs.

It can also mess with their digestive system, leading to discomfort or proper illness. To put it short, don’t touch the moose. Keep a safe distance, at least 25 yards, and observe quietly. That’s all you should be doing.
