Is tubing a sport? I’d say no, it’s an activity. Sure it takes some skill, but it’s not like you’re doing tricks like in wakeboarding, or riding around markers like in waterskiing. It’s just something fun you do behind a boat. Unless you make it a sport.

Flips on tubes isn’t unheard of by any means, but it’s usually because the boat captain managed to hurl the tube into the wake, forcing the rider/riders into a bit of an upside-down situation. Intentionally flipping on tubes is pretty new to me. So yeah, maybe the way that Dylan Wilcox goes tubing should count as a sport. Maybe we’ll see competitive tubing pop up in the future.

I promise you I won’t be trying this stuff the next time I’m at the lake.
