Two hungry coyotes were caught on camera along Yellowstone’s Lamar River in the heat of battle to secure precious calories from a buried bison carcass. The fight lasted nearly 10 minutes:

“Couple mornings ago, Wolftracker guide Michael Sypniewski and his guests watched two coyotes duke it out along the Lamar River. This intense back and forth battle went on for close to 10 minutes! Although obstructed from their view, they believe the two canines were fighting over the remains of a bison carcass buried deep in the snow.”

Coyotes are opportunistic feeders and finding a buried bison is one hell of an opportunity. With food sources not as easily available in the depths of winter you can understand why these two got scrappy.
