Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania- After five decades of serving skiers and riders in the Poconos, a popular ski shop is shutting down.

WNEP 16 reports that Starting Gate Action Sports will be closing for good. The ski shop, which is owned by Malcolm and Marge Law, moved locations multiple times throughout its history, ultimately going back to the original building for this final iteration. Malcolm Law explained to WNEP why they’re shutting down the shop:

“We have had three major resorts in the area close down. A lot of the second homeowners that would be our customers are now full-time residents, so they don’t necessarily ski and they don’t have time. And internet, the internet kills us because you would have someone come in, and you’d spend half an hour fitting them just with the right ski boot and they would take a picture of it and order it online. So, time to say goodbye.”

If you’re looking for discounted ski and snowboard gear, Starting Gate Action Sports is currently holding a going-out-of-business sale. Everything outside of their UGG collection is 50% off its original price. The Law family plans on keeping the ski shop open until they’ve sold all of their inventory. After they close the shop, the employees will transition to their next-door business: the Pocono Indian Museum.
