AUSTRIA – Crazy footage from Austrian climber and alpinist Tobias Holzknecht (filmed by Simon Holzknecht), showing a massive avalanche in a heavily wind loaded area. Looking closely, you’ll be able to see a skier or snowboarder riding right above the avalanche. It looks like they’re below some serious cracking, so it’s lucky they didn’t go for a ride. Fortunately nobody was injured.

“Moderate to strong wind with snow available for transport can rapidly change the avalanche conditions. Wind is incredibly powerful and can move large amounts of snow. 10cm of fresh can easily be 30cm or more in wind loaded areas with the right wind speeds.”@avybites via Tobias Holznecht
