Vail, Colorado- The ski town of Vail is synonymous with expensive mansions. But which available property is the most expensive?

According to Zillow, the answer is 107 Rockledge Road. Built back in 2007, the eight-bedroom, nine-bathroom property features ski-in/out access on the Bear Tree run. Some of the amenities include a lap pool, a huge great room with a stone fireplace and rock crystal chandelier, a media room, a game room, and a private hot tub. The home was previously owned by James Hatfield, who’s a guitarist and co-founder of Metallica.

The property has an interesting history. Before the 2007 build, Vernon “Moose” Taylor, who was one of the early investors for Vail Ski Resort, and his wife Ann, had a French Manor mansion on the site that was built back in 1963. According to Forbes, they hosted guests like President Gerald Ford, Prince Philip, and Princess Anne.

While this is the priciest home for sale in Vail, it won’t be the most expensive mansion ever sold in the ski town. That honor goes to Opus, which sold for $57.25 million in 2020.
