GOLDEN, British Columbia – Yesterday’s Freeride World Tour Stop in Kicking Horse Mountain Resort was pretty wild. Max Hitzig, Oscar Mandin, and Marcus Goguen all threw down some crazy runs to reach the ski men’s podium, and not a single category managed to disappoint.

The competition crash real, however, was almost equally as epic as all of the winning runs. The best of the best crashes probably has to go to Stan Rey, who couldn’t quite hold on to the landing of a pretty sweet cliff drop. He jumps, he hits the ground, and he starts spinning, tomahawk style.

I count six total flips, let me know if you disagree. Thankfully, he was totally fine after this crash.

The rest of Rey’s line, before the crash, was pretty awesome too. High speed, great control, some sweet airs, and then this wipeout. Pretty crazy stuff. Sadly, because of the crash, he didn’t receive a score. But in my heart that was at least a 75. Maybe he was just celebrating the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl win?

The other crazy wipeout worth reviewing (if you really even want to call it a wipeout) was from Kendall Goodman who, despite getting ripped around by weird snow and trees, managed to keep both of his skis on and finish on his feet (skiing switch, no less).

Unlike Stan Rey, Goodman did get a score, a 30.67. If crash recovery was considered, though, that would have been a solid 90. The stuff these guys are consistently throwing down, and able to recover from, is just insane.
