Very few people get to say “Zeb Powell taught me how to hit a rail.” Even fewer get to say “Deion Sanders is my father.” But some just get lucky in this world.

Colorado Buffaloes’ safety Shilo Sanders (and son of Deion Sanders) took a lap with snowboarding legend Zeb Powell while hanging out at the X-Games. Fortunately there were cameras pointing their direction the entire time, so we can rewatch their lap time and time again.

Shilo spent the football season, as we’ve already mentioned, as a safety with CU Boulder’s Buffaloes. He had the second most forced fumbles in the country for college football in 2023, more than any other player in the Pac-12. This past season was the first year where his father, Deion “Prime Time” Sanders, was the coach of the team, as well.

But, since the season’s ended, Shilo’s been consistently hitting the slopes, filling his social media and YouTube with clips and edits. In fact, back in early January, he posted a video to Instagram from a day at Breckenridge, shouting out Zeb Powell in the comments.

I been watching too much @zebpowelll” – Shilo Sanders

He also shared a 10 minute edit of snowboarding at Loveland to his YouTube, and had the opportunity to hang out with Georgetown Mayor Parker the Snow Dog.

Honestly I’m a bit surprised he’s been allowed to snowboard as much as he is. I don’t know much about the inner workings of college sports, but I imagine, if he hurts himself, things might not go so well come the next season. I guess if your dad is Deion Sanders, it doesn’t matter all that much. (Plus, Deion Sanders appears to be a fan of snow-sports himself).
