I’m a big fan of cats, but I don’t think I’m a big cat fan. I think big cats are cool, don’t get me wrong, I just wouldn’t want to get close to one… ever. What I’m trying to say is, if a random house cat appeared on my porch, I’d probably give it some food and see if it’s okay and healthy. If I big cat appeared on my porch, I’d cower in my house and pray it doesn’t somehow learn to open doors.

This clip was shared to Instagram by Amanda Jade, apparently shot in British Columbia. Sadly, based on the hashtags and what you can see in the video, it looks like the mountain lion killed the family’s house cat.

Meanwhile in Canada… “Remember that time Steve French came for dinner”

Steve French, if you haven’t seen Trailer Park Boys for some reason, is a pot-eating stoner mountain lion that the boys stumble upon and Bubbles decides to name.

Beware of the jump scare halfway through the video! This video isn’t for the faint of heart.

If you have an encounter with a mountain lion, there’s a few things you can do to stay safe and deter the animal. Make yourself large, pull in any pets, and stand close to others. Wave your arms slowly in the air. Make plenty of noise. Back away slowly, and don’t run.

In the case that a mountain lion actually attacks you, fight back as much as you can. When you’re in mountain lion territory, carrying bear spray can keep you safe. Additionally, keep a close eye on your kids and pets. Don’t try to attract deer to your house, either. While their presence might be fascinating, deer bring in mountain lions.
