One of the biggest ski resort expansions for the 2023-24 season is situated at a surprising location.

Last Friday, Trollhaugen Troll in Wisconsin opened up a new terrain expansion. That’s right, a Wisconsin ski resort just opened up a major expansion. Chair 1, a new fixed-grip quad chairlift, opened on Friday. The new chairlift services six new trails in the Summit terrain pod, which are of intermediate and advanced difficulty. Other runs have been renamed, including Jötunn, The Summit, and KÃ¥lbakken.

One of the trails was named after a legendary figure at Trollhaugen. The Helgen Rose is named after Rose Ludnell, who has worked at the ticket office in the Wisconsin ski area for thirty-seven years. On Monday, Trollhaugen hosted a ceremony to honor her work at the mountain.

Jim Rochford, who’s the owner of Trollhaugen, described to CBS Minnesota the reason why they grew the ski resort:

“If you would’ve told me five years ago you’ll put in a chairlift and put five runs over there, I’d say you’re crazy. This is us giving back. We want this to be a place that is known for giving our customers and skiers the experience they’re looking for and an experience they never had.”

Thanks to the expansion, Trollhaugen now has thirty trails, eight lifts, and a lots of freestyle terrain. Congrats to this family-owned business on this major accomplishment!
