There are many ways to guarantee getting your ski pass pulled. Running into someone. Jumping off the ski lift. Ducking under the rope right in front of ski patrol. All of these are great, but none of them really stack up to slamming into a ski patroller because you were going too fast.

Somehow this guy managed to get off scot-free. It’s absolutely mind blowing to me that the ski patroller wound up doing nothing, but I guess some people are just born lucky.

I think it’s always easy to laugh at an angry ski patroller threatening to pull someone’s pass, but this patroller is pretty chill for letting this dude off.

I do think skiers and snowboarders should try to be aware of who’s coming up behind them, but the blame always goes up. If you’re starting to pass someone on the mountain, you need to make sure you can do so safely. It seems like this guy mostly understood that after the accident, and he took the blame as he should have.

THE BLAME ALWAYS GOES TO THE UPHILL SKIER. I feel like I’ve seen more and more comments on videos talking about how someone’s at fault because they cut someone else off. That’s not how this works. If you are skiing or snowboarding near other people, you need to be in enough control to stop or change direction no matter what the person below you does.

Is it annoying when someone is being unpredictable and making it really hard for you to pass? Absolutely, but that doesn’t mean you have the right to hit them. Even if you call out and say that you’re going to pass, they won’t necessarily make space for you to pass (they might not hear you). If you get into an accident with another skier or snowboarder, and you were behind them, it means you were out of control. That’s it. Ride responsibly, please.
