People say that you shouldn’t eat the yellow snow, but how about the brown stuff?

A video from @Lukz.Project on TikTok painted a depressing picture of conditions at Blue Mountain in Ontario, Canada. The video, which was taken over the Holiday Break, showed a large brown snow patch on one of the open trails. The likely result of this snow was from dirt on the ground mixing in with the snowfall, resulting in some snow that looked like hot cocoa… or poop.

Like most of Eastern North America, Ontario ski resorts have struggled so far this winter. Currently, Blue Mountain only has eleven trails and seven lifts open. This is a small amount compared to the forty-three trails and eleven chairlifts it can run when it’s more like a winter wonderland. The closest ski resort to Toronto, Earl Bales Ski and Snowboard Centre, has yet to spin its lifts this season. They are aiming to open in mid-January.

Unfortunately for Blue Mountain, it looks like the snowstorm coming through the Northeast this weekend won’t reach them. They’ll have some opportunities in the next few evenings to make some snow though, and some snow could be on the way next week.
