Corbet’s Couloir is regarded as one of the most difficult inbound trails at Jackson Hole, and thus, North America. This is because of the top section, which requires incredible precision to get through without doing a yard sale. But is there an easy way to handle this chute?

YouTubers Jay x Nina have released a couple of videos detailing the simplest way of handling Corbet’s Couloir. This method includes slide slipping into the Goat path, getting your ski tips straightened up/aren’t trapped in the snow, and then making a hop turn to escape the tricky first portion. After that, it’s steep, but generally easier to handle compared to that top section.

There’s debate in his YouTube comments whether this is an acceptable way of doing it. I think it is, but only if you’ve previously practiced these moves on other spots on the mountain. Corbet’s Couloir requires your A-game, and if you aren’t ready for it, the consequences are pretty brutal. It should also be noted that the Goat Path isn’t always there, or it can be much steeper. If you aren’t an expert skier, don’t think about going on it.
