On Sunday, October 29, 2023, Copper Mountain in Colorado opened its slopes for early-season alpine ski race training. Despite challenging snowmaking conditions throughout October, this weekend saw a welcomed change as nature bestowed favorable snowfall.

Thanks to the fresh snowfall and the relentless efforts of the maintenance crews, Copper Mountain is advancing toward the commencement of the ski season. Ski enthusiasts got a taste of the action on the Copperopolis trail this Sunday, with athletes showing off their skills on the slopes.

The preparation for the racing season on the upper reaches of Copper Mountain began in earnest since snowmaking commenced on October 2nd. U.S. Alpine Ski Team is slated to touch down at Copper in November, aiming to hone their skills at the U.S. Ski Team Speed Center, which stands as the only full-scale downhill training venue available globally during this period. Copper holds the title of the Official Training Center for the U.S. Ski & Snowboard team, a unique honor among Colorado resorts, providing a year-round training haven for alpine, snowboard, and freeski athletes.

Copper Mountain is set to welcome the public for the 2023/24 winter season starting November 13, and the anticipation for opening day is building with each passing day!
