In honor of it being spooky season, it’s time for an exploration of an abandoned ski area.

Back in 2019, YouTuber Not Thursday explored the Fitzwilliam ski area in Southern New Hampshire. The mountain first opened in the 1940s, and was expanded in 1961 thanks to the installation of two rope tows. Later in that decade, a Poma lift and other rope tows were put in. The mountain also had snowmaking.

The mountain closed in the 1970s due to extensive local competition and inconsistent snowfall. Luckily, the town maintains the land for recreational purposes.

In Not Thursday’s video down below, he discovered the old trails and the foundations to the old lifts. He even checked out an old logging trail on the backside of the ski area. Cheers to the town of Fitzwilliam for keeping a relic of the past in such great shape after being inactive for nearly fifty years.
