The new chairlift project at Mt. Hood Meadows appears to be nearing completion. In a video update this week, they showed what the ride is like up the new Mt. Hood Express. Sadly, I think they sped up the video, so the lift ride won’t be this quick.

This offseason, the Mt. Hood Express was replaced by a Leitner-Poma high-speed detachable six-pack chairlift. The new chairlift base terminal will start at the same location, but the top terminal is slightly closer to the Blue lift, allowing riders more room to unload on both sides of the new chairlift. The chairlift will have the same speed and ride time (1000 feet per minute and 4.5 minutes respectively) but it will also have an uphill capacity increase from around 2600 to 3600 riders.

The new chairlift is on track to open for the 2023-24 season.
