Australian speed skater Steven Bradbury is the recipient of another unlikely medal. You might remember his first unexpected medal win at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic Games. Bradbury was in last place in the 1000m final when all other competitors collided in the final turn. Upon their crash, Bradbury cruised in right into the gold. Here’s footage of the amazing moment:

Bradbury’s latest medal is arguably more impressive than his interesting route to gold. Bradbury has been awarded the Commendation for Brave Conduct at Governor-General’s Australian Bravery awards for saving four teenagers from drowning. While giving his son a surfing lesson, he quickly paddled out to the swimmers while his son contacted local lifeguards. You can hear his recount of the event below:
