Did you know that you can travel to Winter Park Resort in Colorado by train? Called the Winter Park Express, riders start at Denver’s Union Station, and within a couple of hours, you arrive right at the base area of Winter Park Resort. This season, the service ran on Friday-Sundays from January 15 through March 26th.

YouTuber DownieLive made the journey, starting at the Denver International Airport, taking the RTD to Denver’s Union Station, and then going on the Amtrak ski train to Winter Park. The train has sufficient space for your baggage and a lot of legroom. There’s also an observation car, and a cafe to order food and drinks. While it’s definitely a slower ride than Japanese bullet trains, it beats the grueling I-70 experience. The train’s ending point is right at Winter Park Resort, meaning you’re just a few steps away from the Arrow and Gemini Express chairlifts.

Tickets for this ski season started at $34 if you booked early, but these tickets are in high demand, so definitely plan ahead rather than show up on a weekend morning hoping you can just jump on the train. The video from DownieLive is below.
