If you’re wondering how the Superstar Glacier is holding up, it’s still standing, but probably not better than it ever did.
The footage, which is from YouTuber Liv4ski on May 14th, shows sufficient coverage across the Superstar trail. He also released a video comparing the snowpack from this year to last year on May 20th. Unfortunately for the prospect of a return to June skiing, the fairly warm weather will continue this week, and some cracks are starting to show.
The key will be how long the snow between the crossover between the lift and the trail lasts, as this is typically one of the first parts to go. As webcam footage from today shows, some dirt is starting to show up in this area. They’ll be able to push some snow over it, but that’s a temporary solution that won’t last long.
According to WCAX, Killington believes that they can make it to Memorial Day, which I think is possible. Ultimately, you’ll likely need to carry your skis onto the lift and may need to walk down through some sections for the final weekend. If you aim on skiing Superstar this Spring, I’d recommend going this weekend.
The videos from Liv4ski are below.
Update 5/18: Thanks to the groomers moving around some snow, the dirt patches have been covered. They’re good to go for this weekend.
