Since 2020, the West Bowl at Sun Peaks Resort has been without a lift. The West Bowl T-Bar reached the end of its operational life, and the area has remained as a hike-in/ski-out area since then. In 2024, that will all change.

Yesterday, the British Columbia ski resort announced that they’ll be putting a high-speed detachable quad in the West Bowl. The new chairlift, which will be supplied by Doppelmayr, is a $12 million investment.

Darcy Alexander, who is Sun Peaks Resort’s Vice President and General Manager, explained how this new lift will improve Canada’s second-largest ski resort:

“Sun Peaks continues to evolve and this significant new lift infrastructure will diversify the experience in an important pod of terrain in the resort. Guests will have additional trails and vertical to explore with the convenience and efficiency of detachable lift technology.”

Last year, they finished the planning process, engineering, and site preparation. This offseason, they will continue work on the electrical and foundation work. The lift installation will happen in 2024, with the new chairlift expected to be completed before the 2024-25 season.
