acrophobia: an extreme or irrational fear or phobia of heights, especially when one is not particularly high up. 

While you may think that most skier and snowboarders are fully inoculated against fearing heights, you would be wrong. There’s tons of us who can remain calm, cool and collected while firmly planted on the steepest of pitches but get a sickening sensation in the pits our stomachs when we’re taking the chairlifts up the slopes we earnestly love to ride down. For those of us who suffer from acrophobia this footage from a lift stoppage at Whitefish Mountain Resort in Montana will conjure up head spinning vertigo vibes that make us a part of the 100% bar down crew.
