Northstar has become the latest ski resort to add Electric Vehicle (EV) chargers. In a recent press release, the California ski resort announced a collaboration with EV Range and Liberty that has brought EV chargers to the Vail Resorts property.

There are now ten electric chargers at the ski resort, with six level-2 ports (7kW) at the Village’s premium lot, and four fast-charger ports (350kW) in the Castle Peak lot. This is reportedly the first fast-charging station at a ski resort in the Lake Tahoe region.

Jerusha Hall, who is the Director of Mountain Planning at Vail Resorts, had this to say about the partnership.

“We are dedicated to making continued progress towards our sustainability goals, including achieving 100% renewable electricity in North America, as part of our Commitment to Zero. We are excited to see more guests bring electric cars to Northstar and appreciate the collaboration with EV Range and Liberty to install these chargers in support of zero-emissions vehicles.”

Carl Pancutt, who is the CEO of EV Range, described the capabilities of their chargers at Northstar:

“When Northstar first asked us to help them bring electric charging capabilities to their guests, we mapped out a multi-phase approach. These new DCFC chargers are capable of delivering 200 miles of range in approximately 15 minutes, making this a clear benefit for Northstar guests, employees and the local community to fast charge their cars at the resort.”

Matt Newberry, who is the Liberty Transportation Electrification Program Manager, described the collaboration:

“When Northstar and EV Range came to us to discuss this project, it was an exciting opportunity to launch our EV Fast Charge Program. We are proud to support high-power fast chargers in strategic locations to reduce range anxiety and improve EV travel in our territory.”

Northstar is in the midst of a deep winter. They just surpassed 600 inches of snowfall this season thanks to 6″ in the last 48 hours. Over the offseason, they replaced the Comstock Express with a high-speed six-pack chairlift, so they’ve had a great season over there.
