Park City, Utah has banned a certain type of ski wax after ‘forever chemicals’ were discovered in the city’s drinking water.

Fluorinated wax, also known as “fluro-wax” is a high-performance product typically used by ski racers. It was banned for the 2022 Winter Olympics because of health concerns.

Officials believe that fluro-wax is the reason PFAS compounds were found in the city’s water supply, hence the ban.

PFAS compounds are known to cause cancer and infertility.

Check out the full news report below by Fox 13, or keep reading:

Fox 13 News claims that these PFAS compounds are extremely dangerous in high quantities, and while they’re only being detected in the parts-per-trillion range,  they’ll never actually go away.

The article goes on to quote the Environmental Protection Agency about the dangers of PFAS compounds:

“According to the Environmental Protection Agency, these compounds can decrease fertility, cause developmental delays in children, and increase the risk of cancer.”

It’s time you check your wax and ditch any fluro-wax.

There’s no way the city will actually be able to enforce the ban, but I’ve seen enough evidence to stop using this stuff, haven’t you?

This isn’t an ad, but has anybody tried mountainFLOW eco-wax? Is it any good? Is it actually environmentally friendly? Let us know.
