The massive snowstorms of the 2022-23 season have wreaked havoc on California. With more snow on the way, some people fear for the safety of the buildings they live and work in. CBS News Bay Area reports that an avalanche near Palisades Tahoe crashed into a three-story apartment building on Tuesday night.
The avalanche, which was 200 yards wide and 25 feet deep, buried the first two floors of the building. Four units needed to be evacuated due to the avalanche encroaching into their space. Thanks to Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue’s swift efforts, they discovered that no one was hurt by the avalanche.
Around 7 p.m. Tuesday evening, an avalanche struck an occupied three-story apartment building in Olympic Valley. Fortunately, all occupants were uninjured and able to evacuate the building with help from fire crews. Important info here: https://t.co/W79KqHBFBL #cawx #snow #Tahoe pic.twitter.com/8sfAJOYgyA
