Tributes from friends, family, and fans are sweeping across the internet with a seemingly consistent message- Kyle Smaine was beloved by everybody who knew him.

Smaine’s home resort, Sierra-at-Tahoe, CA posted the following message and video to remember their friend.

“So many moments shared with Kyle. We’ve had the honor of watching you grow up and into a beloved member of the Sierra family + outdoor community — from some of your first turns, to putting on a show as “The Poacher”, to a World Champion skier + all-around stellar human being. Trying to make sense + come to terms with the reality that now, we will have to cherish those moments shared + hold onto the memories that you inspired us with.

This video encapsulates the essence of Kyle and the way he squeezed every single drop out of life. Always seeking adventure, always ready to grab hold of the day, pushing himself + others to their fullest potential + make the ordinary moment extraordinary with an ear-to-ear grin.

He embodied the Sierra spirit + his soul will continue to live on in every park lap, powder turn or spring day as we hear the echoing of him hootin’ + hollerin’ as we carry him in our hearts.

Kyle, you were magnetic, and we know that you will continue to cheer us all on from above — as you were the ultimate hype-man. We miss you, we love you + cannot wait to ski you again, until then shred in peace.”

Our thoughts and condolences are with Kyle’s friends and family through this unbelievably difficult time.
