Boston Dynamics has been pushing the possibilities of robotics for years. The videos of their robotic dogs, and bipedal androids, regularly go viral across the internet.

The technology is undeniably impressive, but has anybody stopped for a second to ask why?!?!?!?!

Why do they need to create such life-like, capable robots?!

The video below shows the Boston Dynamics robotic dogs decorating a Christmas tree with a bow, and I’ll never understand why it’s necessary.

Check it out:

Dr. Ian Malcolm, the iconic Jurassic Park character played by Jeff Goldblum, said it best when speaking to park creator John Hammond:

“…your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.”

Have they not watch any sci-fi movie made in the last century? Terminator? The Matrix? iRobot? ex_machina? Do I need to go on?

The robots are decorating Christmas trees now, but it won’t be long before they’re turning us into their Christmas trees…
