Keystone‘s mountaintop snow fort is certainly a sight to see. Located at the top of Decorum Mountain, it’s the largest mountaintop snow fort in the world, taking up 10,000 square feet with snow carvings, ice caves, tunnels and slides. With the help of ice carving company Since, the resort was able to  build the ice mansion in just two weeks, and it’s already open. On December 23, the mountain is hosting the snow fort’s grand opening, and, later in the year, a second snow fort is set to open near the Mountain House base area, so the kids can play while the parents grab some drinks at the nearby bar.

Keith Martin, owner of Snice Carvings, has done some pretty darn cool sculptures, both with snow and ice, for ski resorts, clubs, and competitions throughout Colorado. You can, and should, check out his work over on his website’s gallery. This video of Martin discussing his work with the snow fort, posted to Keystone Resort’s Facebook page, is awesome, and you should give it a watch! Seems like a pretty incredible career!
