Attitash Mountain Resort has officially opened one of its biggest capital projects in recent memory. Last Friday, they opened up the new Progression Quad, which replaced the East-West Double-Double chairlifts.

This new lift is vital for numerous reasons. The new chairlift, which is located right next to the Learning Center Triple, is the next step up for beginners. The terrain around the Progression Quad is mostly beginner and intermediate runs, and it also gives skiers access to Bear Peak.

The new fixed-grip quad chairlift, which was supplied by Doppelmayr, has a capacity of 1800 skiers per hour. The chairlift has a vertical rise of 640 feet, and a total length of 2627 feet. The ride time is around seven minutes.

Up next in the lift replacement schedule for Attitash is the Summit Triple. This chairlift is disliked by guests due to the very long ride up, along with its frequent maintenance issues. In its place will be a new high-speed quad chairlift. The new lift will reduce lift lines over Attitash Peak, and spread out crowds that usually frequent the Flying Yankee chairlift.

The U.S. Forest Service approved these plans in November, so it will likely open during the 2023-24 season.
