Snowbird, UT kicked off their season last Friday thanks to a generous helping of early-season snow.

Guests have been enjoying laps on Peruvian, Gadzoom, and Chickadee, so far, but have not yet had the opportunity to ride Snowbird’s brand-new tram cars.

Snowbird finished the installation of the red tram just a few weeks ago. The new blue tram car has been running since earlier this summer.

Snowbird is preparing a celebration to ring in a long winter season of tram rides ahead.

SNOWBIRD’S NEW TRAM CABINS TO OPEN FRIDAY, NOV. 25, 2022

The opening of the new Tram cabins is a historic day for skiing and for Utah.

SNOWBIRDUtah, Nov. 23, 2022 – The upgraded Snowbird Tram will open for operations on Friday, Nov. 25. This marks the first time in 50 years that skiers and riders will be shuttled to Hidden Peak by new cabins.

“Opening the new Tram is a historic moment for Snowbird,” said Snowbird President and General Manager Dave Fields. “The Tram is symbolic, not just for long time skiers and riders, but for Utah, and I am excited to see the new cabins open to the public.”

To celebrate, Snowbird will be holding an event starting at 8 a.m. Festivities will include breakfast for the first few hundred Tram guests, a ribbon cutting and other surprises.

The Snowbird Tram has been an icon since 1971, and the new cabins are sure to maintain the same status. The new cabins include floor-to-ceiling windows, automated doors and gates as well as a new drive system.
