Believe it or not, but a fairly large avalanche occurred at private ski resort Holimont Ski Club in Ellicottville, NY yesterday morning. All we have is one image of the slide, but it looks fairly significant.

The ski area, which is about 55 miles south of Buffalo, saw heavy snowfall over the last week.

The image, posted by Facebook page The Southtowns Scanner claims that nobody was injured. Take a look below:

It’s pretty odd to see an avalanche of this size occur at a small ski area in the northeast. Thank goodness the hill wasn’t open, and that nobody was in the area when it was triggered.

Here’s an another view of the slide that was posted to Facebook. Looks like the ski area is blowing snow on top of it.
