Update 11/10: Brighton announced they’ll be opening up at 11 a.m. today, so they’ll end up being the first ski resort opening in Northern Utah.

Solitude and Brighton are in a race to be the first ski resort to open in Northern Utah. Brighton Resort announced today that they’ll be opening this Friday (November 11th) at 9 a.m. The Majestic, Snake Creek Express, and Explorer chairlifts will be opening on Friday. The Crest Express will be opening relatively short thereafter, thanks to the massive amount of snowfall that they’ve received. With it being Veterans Day as well, they’ll be offering free lift tickets to those who have served. Ikon Passholders will not need to reserve a lift ticket for this weekend but will need to, later on, this season.

A little while later, Solitude Mountain Resort announced that they’ll be opening on Thursday at 2 p.m. With the Link and Moonbeam chairlifts being the only lifts that will likely be operating, it looks like Brighton will have more terrain open for the weekend. On the other hand, with nearly two feet of snow in the past day, it’s likely that more trails and lifts could be added to Solitude’s opening weekend lineup.
