We’re currently in the midst of spooky season, which means it’s a great time to share one of the best-abandoned ski area documentaries ever made. Called ABANDONED, the short film captures what remains of various lost Colorado ski areas. The film interviews people who experienced the ski areas when they were open. Additionally, ABANDONED shows skiers shredding the abandoned slopes in their current condition. Produced by Road West Traveled, the film captures the histories of Geneva Basin, Berthoud Pass Ski Area, and Cuchara Mountain.

One of these mountains is likely going to come off this abandoned list though. For years, locals have been working on repairing Cuchara Mountain’s Chair 4 and adding summer activities around the base area. The Pandero Ski Corporation is aiming to reopen Chair 4 this winter. You can help them out with their reopening efforts here. The documentary from Road West Traveled is below.
