The first annual WinterWonderGrass kicked off at the Crazy Mountain Brewery, Edwards Colorado in 2013. It didn’t take long for fans to catch on and the event sold out in each of its first two years. Knowing that this location, although great, would not be enough thanks to this incredible response, WinterWonderGrass founder Scotty Stoughton began to seek out alternate locations.

The first new location was Steamboat. Then, two years later standing on a worn-out parking lot below the world-famous Tahoe Tram, Stoughton declared the new WinterWonderGrass location to be Lake Tahoe, California. Now in its seventh season at the newly named Palisades Tahoe resort, WWG has announced what promises to be another world-class lineup of artists.

WinterWonderGrass: The Ultimate Mountain Music Festival

For those of you who do not know, WinterWonderGrass is the ultimate mountain music festival. Set amidst the backdrop of majestic mountain landscapes, this critically acclaimed, boutique music festival is all about community. Whether it’s the spectacular bands, the lively kids zone, carefully curated local food vendors, spirits, and world-class craft beer & seltzer (with complimentary tastings) visitors of all ages are bound to have a great time.

Stoughton notes: “The intention behind WinterWonderGrass and all our Bonfire Entertainment events is to hold space for a mindful, clean and comforting fan experience. First and foremost, we create this for the people, the communities, and our artists. WWG is itself a community; our attendees share our passion for protecting the environment, tasty craft brew, authentic music, and collective kindness.”

So, mark your calendars and prep your lift tickets now. The Palisades Tahoe WWG event kicks off March 31 with the free Thursday Kickoff Show in the Village at Palisades Tahoe. From that point on, its a fun-filled weekend of music, brews, and mountains with bluegrass and Americana favorites.

The lineup will satisfy all audiences with 25 bands across 4 stages, including WinterWonderGrass veterans, Trampled by Turtles and Greensky Bluegrass, plus newcomers Marcus King, The Main Squeeze, and The Lone Bellow. The weekend rounds out with Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, Mapache, Neal Francis, Tray Wellington Band, Big Richard, AJ Lee & Blue Summit, Lindsay Lou, Pixie and the Partygrass Boys, Cris Jacobs Band, the Brothers Comatose, Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country, Pickin’ on the Dead and others.

On top of all these amazing bands playing across the open-air outdoor mainstage and three side stages (tented and heated) there will, of course, be daily beer, whiskey, and spiked seltzer complimentary tastings for those 21 and over, from 3-5 pm.

Warren Miller Entertainment once referred to WinterWonderGrass as, “one of the ski season’s most lively modern events.” With a focus on bluegrass music supported by a strong community, local food vendors and plenty of craft beer, whiskey and seltzer, it is easy to see why. So whether it is your first visit or you are a seasoned veteran, WWG Tahoe promises to be yet another spectacular showing in its seven year run.
