In my opinion, the biggest offseason project at any ski resort in North America is the completion of the eight-person Base to Base Gondola at Palisades Tahoe. With stops at Alpine Meadows, KT-22, and the Palisades, it will connect two of arguably the best ski resorts in California. The 2.4-mile-long gondola will have ninety-six cabins, four terminals, thirty-three lift towers, and a ride time of sixteen minutes from base to base.

In recent weeks, cable splicing work has been completed on both the Palisades and Alpine Meadows sides. But wait, there’s more!

Yesterday, Palisades Tahoe announced that the first gondola cabins have been installed onto the lift. The Base to Base Gondola and the new Red Dog Chairlift are expected to open in early to mid-December.
