It’s looking like New Hampshire ski resorts are going to have another busy season. WMUR spoke with Jessica Keeler of SkiNH, who said that mountains across the state are seeing brisk season pass sales in spite of inflation. Lift ticket prices have yet to be announced at many ski resorts in the 603, but they are expected to go up from what it was last year.
Most of the video from WMUR focuses on Cannon Mountain, which is run by the state. Expenses are expected to be an issue for ski resorts, as Cannon Mountain is expected to face an additional $825,000 in energy costs. They will be countering this by increasing lift tickets by $5 and introducing RFID technology for the first time ever.
Additionally, the state is considering charging for hiker parking in two areas at Franconia Notch State Park during the summertime. These parking areas are located on two primary trailheads that are popular. I reached out to Cannon for comment, and they confirmed to me that the paid parking does not apply to the ski resort for the winter. The paid parking areas are in the state park but aren’t near Cannon Mountain’s parking areas. The video from WMUR is below.
