“I draw everything actual size on good paper using cheap pens. Sometimes cheap paper and good pens.” –Ryan Schmies

Very cool look at a man who stands at the intersection of art and skiing. Its quite possible you may recognize Ryan Schmies artwork from untold hours spent on chairlifts scrutinizing your topsheet graphics but have you ever wondered about the man behind the illustrations? Ryan has worked with K2, LibTech, REI, Smith and J-Skis just to name a few. Warms my heart to know such a righteous dude’s art graces some of my favorite gear. Check out his website HERE:

Husband. Father. Artist. Skier.

I started designing for the outdoor industry back in the beginning of my college days. Upon graduation, I left the Wisconsin ice for some Pacific Northwest powder and a job with K2 SKIS. I’ve designed hundreds of skis, more products, campaigns, trade shows, POP, packaging, print and digital collateral than I can sometimes remember over the course of 20 years.

My main passions lie in Art Direction, Illustration, Branding and Design, but I’m also networked with some of the Northwest’s most talented artists, designers, photographers, videographers and web developers to help bring projects of any size and scope to life.

Thanks so much for taking a look. Let’s connect and make something great to elevate your brand.

-Ryan
