Interesting video from the good folks at Colorado Parks & Wildlife as an officer uses some well placed pepper ball rounds to avoid having to make contact with this black bear that was tucked under a porch in Colorado Springs. If the bear needed to be tranquilized for relocation, it would have automatically been ear tagged and issued a “strike.” If the bear was proved to be a repeat offender and received a second strike, CPW policy is to euthanize. Blasting bears with paintball guns may seem cruel but this type of hazing is actually in the animal’s best interest. Tip of the cap to Officer Corey Adler, I would not want to play this dude in capture the flag on the paintball field.
Today's @COParksWildlife #wildlife #rescue story is of a bear that wedged itself deep under a porch near #ColoradoSprings Sunday. CPW Officer Corey Adler avoided handling the bear. Hazing it saved it a critical "strike" under CPW policy. Listen as he talks to the bear throughout. pic.twitter.com/AOj3mAJ3S8
