“This new slope will be one of the steepest in the world. With a tunnel passage and a start at 41 degrees, it will be a challenge that every experienced skier will want to take up the cause.”– Bernhard Tschannen, CEO of Glacier 3000.
This Switzerland ski resort is about to be on everyone’s bucket list. Glacier 3000, which may be one of the best names for a ski resort ever, is currently working on building a new black diamond trail: Pillon-Cabane. SKI Magazine reports that the new run will drop over 3000 feet, be nearly two miles long, and the steepness of the pitch starts at forty-one degrees.
Here’s the kicker: to reach the trail, there is a nine-hundred-foot ski-thru tunnel that skiers and riders will go into to reach the challenging run. The trail features wide alpine snowfields and open glades, with views of more than at least two dozen 13,000-foot mountains, including the legendary Matterhorn. Some more information about the project and the ski resort are below.
