Ahhh football. The most popular sport in the United States, without a single doubt. Whether you enjoy it or not, you can’t deny that a majority of Americans would be incredibly hesitant to stop a game of football for nearly any reason. Rain or shine, kids or adults, no matter the situation, the game will almost always go on. Unless, of course, there’s a risk of a rather large cat joining your children on the field. In that case, maybe the game should come to a halt.

That’s exactly what happened on Saturday, August 20th, when a round-robin tournament at Atwater High school in California was delayed before it even began. Fortunately, by 9:30 a.m., police made it known that the mountain lion was clear of the area and the game could go on.

Thank god the mountain lion showed up before the event began. No telling what kind of panic it would have caused if it wandered into the area while a bunch of kids were playing football. And, to go even further, no telling how the mountain lion would have reacted to that kind of panic! No one wants to place mountain lion attacks among concussions, sprained ankles, dislocations, and all the other dangers of football.
